My Rule for Life

I would rather live my life as if there is a God, and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't, and die to find out there is.

There is Hope, aka, Andy Dalton

There is Hope!! Double exclamation point!!  Why?  Because "there is hope"  How do I know?  Quite simple, I watched The Rose Bowl football game today.  Follow me for a minute.  I don't really like college football and seldom watch it.  Today being New Years Day if you don't watch football you got stuck with a Dog the Bounty Hunter marathon or Mythbusters Marathon.  Neither favorites in this house ergo, The Rose Bowl.

This to say the least was a challenge for me.  Watch, surf,  watch, surf,  watch, surf,  oh, this was getting bad. Finally about 4 minutes to go and Wisconsin marches down the field to score.  TCU, Texas Christian University, for those of you in Loma Linda, has a 2 point lead.  Wisconsin goes for the 2 point conversion and misses.  Yea! TCU, Texas Christian University, for those of you in Loma Linda. (just in case they didn't get it the first time) TCU gets the ball  on an on side kick and runs out the clock.  TCU wins.

As I said I am not a college football fan.  OK, why the "Hope".  Quite simply, actually, it's not because Texas Christian University, a Christian college won.  It's what happened after the win. As usual the moron sideline sports interviewers were hounding the players for sound bites.  Hey, put this in perspective, you just won the Rose Bowl.  Hey, how does it feel to win the Rose Bowl.  What did you think about blah, blah blah.

Finally one of them interview the TCU quarterback, Andy Dalton.  He says a couple of sentences and then says, "like the Bible says in 1st Peter......".  He then quotes the verse.  On national TV!  A spontaneous Biblical utterance by a Senior in college.  I thought the interviewer was going to pass out.  The look on his face was, PRICELESS.  So folks today a small Christian college beat a Big Ten football team fair and square in a Nationally televised prestigious bowl game and the MVP, quarterback, Andy Dalton, quoted the Bible.  Yes, there is  Hope.  It was just proven.  God Bless us all.

I am so proud of my TCU Horned Frogs (huge fan) and of Andy Dalton. To think that his first post-game interview includes a Biblical quote is simply amazing. Andy is a class act football player and man. I am truly proud of him, the team and TCU! Go Frogs!

Pops, OH MY GOSH, we did the same post!! GREAT minds! I just flipped when I heard Dalton say that and then I investigated him a bit and found he was raised with great strength of faith...would that more kids were. There is HOPE, hallelujiah!
I don't like ANY football so it was a miracle I watched TCU...I guess it was because of the C and because I have a dear friend who went there and was at the game...it was worth watching just for 1 Peter, wasn't it!
happy New Year, Pops! xx

And there you go -- !!

The DANGER of "going live" once again!

Darn those people who have the temerity to believe in God and actually tell you their feelings!

Not being a big college football guy, are they REALLY called the Horned Frogs??

I too was very happy to watch Andy Dalton quote the bible, it was a very touching and honest moment.

However you said "A spontaneous Biblical utterance by a Senior in college. I thought the interviewer was going to pass out. The look on his face was, PRICELESS."

However for accuracies sake I feel compelled to Dalton quoted that passage when he was being interviewed by ESPN report Erin Andrews, a woman, and she did not skip a beat, she was very professional, and she simply moved on to her next question.

People will always attack public displays of faith, so I feel that its important to be as accurate as possible when defending said public displays of faith.

Paul,

Thank you for your comment. That's what this blog is all about. People and their opinions. I'll be the first to admit I really wasn't paying attention to the interview until I heard Andy say "First Peter says..." In my ever so humble opinion the interviewer's expression changed, in your it didn't. None the less, it was comforting and wonderful to hear a young college athlete quote the Bible on national TV with a huge audience. Don't you agree?

I hope you will come back often and become a follower. We do have some interesting discussions on occasion.

I was also very happy and feel blessed to call Andy Dalton a fellow frog following his interview in which he quoted the Bible.

I googled the event, hoping to find something in the media, and I got your blog. :) I'm glad somebody is talking about this!

Go Frogs!

Just thought i'd give some more info on the interview.

Erin Andrews asked Andy how he felt winning the game, as many of the ESPN experts said, "not just for your team but for ALL the underdog teams in college football." To which he responded with a sentence or two then recited the verse 1 Peter 5:6, which says: "Humble yourself, and under God's mighty hand He will exalt you in due time." which he immediately followed by saying "and I think that's what happened tonight."

I am a sophmore in high school and found it very impressive to see someone have such awareness of God in his life and at a moment like that, much like I try to. I was so inspired that I searched and acctually found a picture of Andy Dalton pointing to the sky in victory. I saved the pic and then typed the same verse on the background. I then set it as my wallpaper and will keep it there for the rest of my high school years.

Jack,

First thank you for stopping by. Conservative Outrage is a blog where the Conservative voice of America can be heard. I am impressed by your comment and would have attributed that to a more older fellow than 14. You and the Andy's of America give us "seasoned citizens" hope for the greatest country on Earth.

Please stop by and comment as often as you like. The fact you found the pik and have used 1Peter on your computer as a reminder is fantastic.

God Bless You,

Pops

Jack,

Hey! you must be glued to the tube. But I and the others who read Conservative Outrage appreciate your diligence in reporting the spontaneous comments from the football fields around the country. It is young men and women like you that give us Senior Citizens hope. Keep up the reporting perhaps we will see you on FOX news someday!

God Bless,

Lutheran Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Destruction of the embryo in the mother's womb is a violation of the right to live which God has bestowed upon this nascent life. To raise the question whether we are here concerned already with a human being or not is merely to confuse the issue. The simple fact is that God certainly intended to create a human being and that this nascent human being has been deliberately deprived of his life. And that is nothing but murder.
