A Discussion, Not a Debate

Why oh why didn't I call this Christian Conservative Outrage? Because I don't like to mix religion and politics together. That's one reason I left the Lutheran Church. Politics from the pulpit. No thanks, I like my politics on the stump and my religion from the pulpit. In this ol' boy's opinion they ain't to be mixed! Now that I have got that off my chest I feel better.

Let me set this up. My daughter is a very good and strong Christian. We have always had good discussion regarding certain theories about religion. Of course we never argue or get mad at each other. Well maybe she does (not really)but I never do. Actually I believe we do quite well even though we may have different opinions about things. Especially my best friend who is Jewish. Why this should bother her I don't know. Her Great Grandmother was Jewish. Her grandmother whom worshiped the ground my daughter walked on very quietly brought her Jewish traditions into our family. Even though she converted to being a Lutheran when she married my dad. OK, so you should have the idea now.

Sarah, my daughter, and I were walking in the park the other day. Of course at some point the discussion came to a question about ABNMOMMA and what she was doing. I said she was looking down at us and smiling. Just waiting hopefully for me to join her. Sarah's thoughts were different. Of course I rebutted with in Heaven there is no sadness only a feeling of joy and understanding. There is no pain nor suffering and earthly beings like Sarah and I were looked on with a peace that knows no pain. An understanding that this is the way it is and has to be. It's part of the Plan.

I emailed my draft to Sarah telling her I wanted it to be accurate. She emailed me back with her reply. I have edited out my glaring misunderstandings of our conversation. Here is her reply.

This is not exactly what I said or what I meant... I said and believe that i don't think that Mom is paying any attention to what is going on down here on earth because the Bible says that "there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying or pain;"and if she saw us down here sad it would make her sad too and that just can't work. Thinking this way takes more faith and less comfort. God watches over us and takes care of us. If we have a personal relationship with him then when we get to heaven our "job" is to worship him and that is what we will be doing and all we will care about doing because Jesus died for us this is what God's word says, not our own emotional comfort.

Now, without taking sides and playing nice how about commenting. IMHO what is your understanding of Heaven? You can even go so far as to tell us what do you think ABNMOMMA is doing. Is she looking down? If you read my post at Mark 1:11 you know I had a feeling about her the other day.

Update

Although the news on Specialist Lesh is slow and sparse a Sargent in Jacob's section was able to make direct contract with him. He said "I'm ok but coming home" Of course coming home means his wounds are serious but we rejoice in him actually speaking on the phone. I will be heading to Fayville in the morning and hope to actually talk with the Sargent who spoke with him. Until then please keep Specialist Lesh in your prayers for a quick and speedy recovery.

Emergency Prayer Request

Good Evening fellow bloggers and followers.

I have an Emergency Prayer request.

I received a text from Jacob at 1203 hours this afternoon. He knows I get out of church around 1200 hours. When I saw the time I knew it was important. I called immediately. As best as has been determined at this point one of his fellow soldiers that he has kept in contact with since Basic Training and AIT was seriously injured yesterday. It seems he was involved in a secondary IED attack while going out on a rapid response to a primary IED attack. He received numerous shrapnel wounds on the left side of his body and face. He was talking and we are hoping no brain damage occurred. It appears the IED was packed with ball bearings which cause severe damage when traveling at explosive speeds.

Please put in your prayers and pass it on to your friends the complete and full recovery of Specialist Monte "Ike" Lesh.

Are We In Control?

The Cap and Tax Bill has passed the House of Representatives (Who do they represent, themselves?). Again they passed a piece of legislation without reading it. Odds have it the amount of "pork" in it will out weigh the "pork" in the TARP Bill. Another piece of legislation that was not read! Are we paying these people for doing nothing but voting on stuff they haven't even read?

On FOX last night a gentleman, who's name I forgot is preparing to file an injunction in New York Federal Court stopping the State of New York Legislators from collecting their pay checks. It seems for the past several weeks they have been opening the session, and they immediately close the session and go home. Apparently by law they must work for their money. His argument is they are not working and should not receive their pay.

Now to me this sounds like a good idea. Is there a lawyer out there who knows Constitutional Law? Can we, somebody file an Injunction against the legislators who admit they haven't read the bills they have voted on. Is there an attorney out there with some guts who is willing to take on the Congress? Ask around. It may sound crazy but then again so did Edison's light bulb and Bell's telephone.

For those who called their representative, thank you very much. That was plan "A". Plan "B" begins with this Post. I will be posting the telephone numbers of the U.S.Senate. If you want your voice to be heard you will be able to call your Senator and tell them your memory is long and your patience is short. If they don't read the Bill don't vote on it. By the way, didn't the new President promise to post, on the web, all new legislation for a minimum of 30 days before it was voted on? And didn't he say his Cap and Tax bill would significantly raise gas and oil costs? Seems to me I heard him say that. Now, this Cap and Tax bill will provide JOBS. Which is it Mr President?

Does it really, always come in three's? I'm wondering about the deaths of 3 famous Hollywood stars, McMahon, Fawcett and Jackson. I've heard this from other people but this is......shall we say, a little scary.

Cap and Tax is about to be voted on. Call you representative NOW! Tell him/her to vote NO on Cap and Tax. It is very simple to understand.

A. If this goes through it will cost more to produce the energy we use,
B. This cost will be passed on to the consumer, US!
C. Want to to spend more for your gas, electric or fuel oil?
D. Call the House of Representative switch board and tell your Representative to vote

I get these emails once in a while and seldom pass them on. However, since my daughter is a teacher by degree, not by profession (mom by profession, stay at home one) I had to pass this on. It makes for such a good post. It also may hint as to what our public schools are going to.

One day a 6 year old girl was sitting in a
classroom. The teacher was going to explain
evolution to the children. The teacher asked
a little boy: Tommy do you see the tree
outside?

TOMMY: Yes.

TEACHER: Tommy, do you see the grass
outside?

TOMMY: Yes.

TEACHER: Go outside and look up and see
if you can see the sky.

TOMMY: Okay. (He returned a few minutes
later) Yes, I saw the sky.


TEACHER: Did you see God up there?

TOMMY: No.

TEACHER: That's my point. We can't see
God because he isn't there. Possibly he just
doesn't exist..

A little girl spoke up and wanted to ask the
boy some questions.
