He's Baaacccckkkkk!

That would be me my friends, enemies, fellow  bloggers and followers!  I am back after a self imposed sabbatical from blogging.  No it wasn't writer's block or anything like that, I just decided to step back and take a deep breath for a little self-evaluation.  Got a body scan it was OK.  Got a brain scan, they found nothing.  So apparently all is well with the ol' bod.  No symptoms just a peace of mind thing for me and the family.  NOW, on with the news (?).


Two significant things have happened to me in the last couple of weeks.  Both, gave me something to think about and it has taken several days to sort it all out.  Let me see if I can put you on the same path I have been traveling these last few days.


With all the talk about the health care, horrible happening at Fort Hood, Cap and Trade, and on and  on and on.  I think I may have gotten depressed.  Don't ask why because I don't know but, I picked up my copy of the Declaration of Independence and began to read it.  My thoughts were to read it from the beginning to end in one evening.  A little self re-education so to speak.  Needless to say that didn't happen.  I must report I only got to the about the middle of the second paragraph.  My question to all of you is:  As an adult, have you  read the Declaration of Independence?  Now if you have, have you really? I mean really? Have you thought about each and every word, what it means and what it says?   Let's start with the very beginning.


"When in the Course of Human events".  What does that mean?  To me it says I am a human.  I'm special, we are all humans.  We are all special.  It says nothing about black humans, white humans, Native American humans,  we are are all humans. We are all in the same category.  One that thinks, feels, has emotions, like love, anger, sadness and happiness.  We are in essence all the same.

"...to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them.."  Take up the responsibilities given to this new nation of humans.These responsibilities are given not only by the Laws of Nature" but by those very responsibilities conceded to them by the Almighty God.


"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,"    We believe we are right. We believe in our cause. All men are created equal.  There is no difference.  That all men are endowed by their Creator.  There is something more powerful than man himself.  Something more powerful. Something that cannot be seen, heard, touched or felt.  We may not know what it is but we know it's there.


"..., Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed," To me this is just as plain as the nose on your face.  Governements are granted their powers by the very people they governing.  They are not granted their powers by the title before their name, the committee they man chair, or the lobbyist who takes them out to a $500 dinner.  They are no smarter, intelligent or intellectually more superior than another. "Deriving their powers from the consent of the governed!"


I would go into the next section about the overthrow of the government, however, the Secret Service all ready has a file on me (just kidding, well maybe not, I don't know) so I will by pass that.  My point here is one.  We, as Americans, big and small, short and tall, black, white, yellow, red, whatever your  ethnicity must put our county first.

Welcome back, you were missed.

Everybody needs a break now and then, otherwise blogging just becomes an exercise in futility.

You start to wonder if all it amounts to is a lot of bloviating into a vacuum, losing sight of the fact that finding others who agree with you is reassuring. Reassuring if not to you than to them because they're no longer alone in their opinions.

Speaking for myself, your posts are appreciated for the sanity and reason they show in a bizarro world.

Keep on coming back.

have I thought about each word? actually it's difficult reading and I HAVE to think in order to reason it out. But it's worth the trouble.

Oh, I'm SO glad to see you back, Pops. And I'm thrilled to know things are better. As for the depression, it's kinda to be expected. Between the insanity in the world and the time of year, I can understand it. On the other hand, that's what friends are for, dear one....and yes, that's a mild scolding.

As for the Declaration of Independence...yes, I had to teach it yearly for several years. But not in the last 5 years or so. But your take on it is very good. In fact, it's a lot like I used to teach my students! How's that for incredible. Keep up the great blogging, and when the insanity gets to you....let your friends know! That's what we're here for, Sweetie...to hold each other's arms up during the fight for what's right. (And NO, that doesn't mean 'the right'...it means those things that are right and good and true.) PS If the secret service has a file on you, welcome to the crowd. I've written so many letters to the various presidents and congress people in the last 30 years I'm sure they know me by name!!!! LOL!

I would be concerned.

But seriously, sorry to hear you were depressed. However I think it is normal when someone has had a serious loss to get depressed from time to time.

I re-read the Declaration of Independence (and the Constitution) from time to time. In fact maybe I will go read it again now. They are beautiful documents, like prose poetry almost.

To be honest none of the things you listed depresses me. The Ft. Hood thing makes me angry because so many people could have intervened and didn't. But this is nothing new. As for health care, nothing could be worse than what we have now. Cap and Trade I haven't been following.

Thank you all for your concerns. I guess "depressed" wasn't the best choice of words. Perhaps brain cramp or writer's block. Anyway thank you all for your concerns.

Elizabeth, I just gotta fire back on the "prose and poetry" comment. You can't seriously consider a historic document such as the Declaration of Independence, "prose and poetry". The sheer magnitude of what this document produced over 200 years is, is...indescribable! Would you treat the Communist Manifesto and Mein Kamph the same way?

Watch this very closely.

YOU HAVE HEALTH COVERAGE.
The purpose of this was to lower cost for those of us who do have coverage (you and me) AND cover those who DO NOT! This bill does neither!! If your costs go UP and quality goes down, ($500 million gutted from Medicare,me. It also DOES NOT COVER ALL the uninsured!

Your health care could get worse and with this bill will. BTW, have your parents weighed in on this with you. I would be interested in their opinion.

Well it may not be better for me; who knows. But at least the insurance companies won't be able to deny people based on pre-existing conditions.

It's a compliment to call any writing poetry. Mein Kampf is one of the worst pieces of writing ever. The Communist Manifesto on the other hand is poetic at times: "Workers of the world unite; you have nothing to lose but your chains." Definitely poetry. Did I ever give you the link to my poetry ezine?

Because they allegedly don't have to pay for pre-existing conditions is the reason your insurance premium is the rate it is. If and when they do have to pay your rates will go up because they DO have to pay for pre-existing conditions.

NOW, having said that my wife's cancer had been there for a while and as I have posted on this blog before the majority of them were taken care of. Hmmmm, yep, best insurance in the WORLD, bare none! IMHO, of course

If you meant it as as compliment I'll accept that.
