DEAL STRESSES COMPLIANCE, (Education is Dead at OSU)



OSU's new football coach, Urban Meyers' contract is 33 pages long.  Since the university has/was and still is under close scrutiny by the NCAA.  Apparently the university wants to appear totally absorbed in running a squeaky clean football program. After the Jim Tressel fiasco with players trading memorabilia for tattoos drew attention to OSU. Then ensuing botched investigation by the athletic director  (create a $250K job for my wife) Gene Smith  OSU liberals are craving less attention from the NCAA and more attention from athletic BIG  $$$ donors.

One only has to examine, not too closely I might add, to see that winning is still tantamount at OSU.  A few of the highlights of coach Meyers' contract are:

and public relations
Equipment and shoe Contract            1,400,000
Remain under contract Jan 2016          750,000

National Championship appearance      250,000

You do the math Darrell.  That looks like a pretty good chunk of change to this ol' farm boy.

Above the Fold

I had the opportunity this morning to see the local Columbus rag.  It's commonly called the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch.  Placement above the fold as we all know is paramount to "getting the word out".  If you are a "lean to the left" rag such as the Columbus Dispatch "the Word" translates to "our Word". This translates to the Democratic Party, local, which runs Columbus and then the National Democratic Party. 

So why was "above the fold so eye catching?  On the right side of the paper the headlines read "Broader Health Care Coverage".  Who isn't for broader health care coverage with the pending doom of obamacare breathing hotly down our necks .  Hopefully there are 5 Supreme Court Justices who will keep their head about them and strike down this unconstitutional law.  

The "above the fold" on the left side headlines was "free Ride at OSU.  Here OSU equals Ohio State University.   Ohio State University runs the city of Columbus from behind the scenes. OSU is the largest non-governmental employer in the city of Columbus.  This leads me back to the "Broader Health Care Coverage",  A great idea until you read the story.  It seems that OSU'S Wexner Medical Center  wants to go in partnership with the Federal Government and create  a program that would offer health care to  individuals in and around the university hospital.  According to the Columbus Dispatch the program would cost $65 million over a period of 15 months.  Do the math Darrell.  That's 4.3 million dollars of hard working taxpayers money per month! 

This little plan according to the Dispatch could be in trouble if the US Supreme Court strikes down obamacare.  Again it involves another waiver like those granted to MacDonald's, Red Lobster, Regis Corp. DISH Network and over 100 more. Now, since the area around the university is being targeted, being a somewhat suspicious person I wonder where all these freebie patients would receive their healthcare.  Hmm, does the University Hospital come to mind.  Once again the lefties in Columbus Ohio are reaching their hand out and sticking in the pockets of hard working Americans.  

I really do care about people and realize that some people need healthcare and cannot afford it.  They all ready get it at the University Hospital and it's funded by those of us who have healthcare in the high insurance premiums we pay.  OSU, if you want to create a program for those without healthcare please feel free to do so.  Just leave the Federal government and ME along with  MY FELLOW AMERICANS out of it!  Simply put........... WE CAN'T AFFORD IT!

WOW!  It's been a long, long time since I've posted.  I guess it's true you get writer's block or bloggers block.  Anyway, here I am reading old posts and going trough my list of bloggers I follow.  Opps guess I better back up and give you some catch up stuff first and why I haven't been blogging.  Well you see the local sheriff has this thing about computers in jail!  Nah!  Just kidding, really.  I had some pretty extensive surgery last November which promptly got infected which caused me to wind up in the hospital on three different occasions.  I only was released to go back to work the beginning of May.  You would think with all that time on my hands I would be blogging my life away but, truly I just wasn't really up to much of anything for about 5 months.  

So here goes.  Went to church this morning which I do most Sunday mornings.  The Pastor was giving a sermon on God, The Father, and how he give everybody an opportunity to succeed in His world.  This was the heart of  the message.  However, one point his hit on struck me very, very close to home.  What did your father teach you and what have you taught your children?  This really hit home as I got to thinking about what my daughter had said to me one day after my wonderful Gretchen had passed away. 

We were talking about mom being in heaven and this and that and I remarked that Sarah had been raised as a Christian and so had mom and there was no doubt she was fixing boobers on little kids in heaven, if they had them there.  Sarah promptly replied she was raised as a Christian but not in a Christian house. 

We prayed a meal time but not in the morning, at bed or did not actively read the Bible.  She had a good point. 

My father taught me to hunt and fish, accept responsibility, show respect to my elders work had and have feelings for the other person who may not be as fortunate as I was.  I tried to teach  my sons and daughter the same things.  I believe we succeeded in part but, as Sarah put it "not a Christian home".

Now to what do I do about all those missed opportunities?

Doomsday Approaches & Conservatives Sit on Their Hands

I generally like to leave a couple days between post however 3 late breaking news article have fired up my Conservative Outrage!  I just have to get this off my mind

Item one is the absolute violation of freedom of speech in the most sacred place in the free world, the church.  I refer to the wicked witch : Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, of the  west or east or of hell and her latest dictate to the Chaplains of our great military.  Only she, with orders or blessings from the Progressive/Socialist barrack hussein obama, would dare to tell an Army Chaplin he cannot speak out against abortion in the sermon!  Since when is the killing of innocent babies not covered in the Bible!  

The government word is  "There was a worry that would be a call for civil disobedience,".  You want some civil disobedience!  I'll give you civil disobedience!  Not that  would ever get close enough but it would be worth the trouble to BITCH SLAP (please pardon my profanity and sexism)Sebeluis or punch her boss, barrack hussein obama in the kisser! Item two is the caving in and today's resignation of Karen Handel VP of the Susan B. Komen Foundation.  After withdrawing funding from the abortion mill organization, Planned Parenthood, the Susan B. Komen Foundation caved in to political pressure and reversed its decision.  This means more of the unborn innocent shall die while 26 US Senators suck in the liberal progressive votes. My comment, no more support to SBK Foundation of any kind.  My no guts, no glory award goes to Karen Handel who not only resigned from the gutless organization today but refused any type of severance pay.  God Bless you woman, you are one in a million!  Clik here for the full story.

Item three is once again in California and San Francisco.  After  a majority vote in 2008 to  ban homosexual marriage a California Appeals Court says the majority of California must yield to the squeaky wheel and allow homosexuals to marry.  Majority rule, not in California. The California Appeals court is doing what many activists judges are doing and going against the majority of Americans who have some damn rights too!  If you want to be homosexual that's fine with me, just don't try to tell me Adam and Steve are the same as Adam and Eve!!!!  Clik here for the full story

And....... actually there is a fourth story that personally affects me very soon.  I have been wondering about this and it just blows my mind.  Talk about waste in government!  Why is it that everybody who applies for their Social Security must sign up for Medicare?   Hmmm,   Why!  Why!  Answer me this Why, Why, Why? I plan to keep work past 65 full time and have an excellent health insurance plan.  Why sound I sign up for a mediocre plan managed by a bankrupt government?  This makes no sense at all.  Well, it seems a couple of fairly well know people have ask the same question. Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey and friends just got shot out of the saddle by another appeals court.  Guess what they don't want Medicare either!

Folks,  I found all this on Fox News.  I am afraid to search for any more of this type of dis-heartening news as I am all ready depressed enough.  What did I mean about Conservatives sitting on their hands?  Well folks this didn't happen overnight.  With the social RINO Romeny being pushed by the left, the old Republican Guards, and the media we Conservatives better make it clear NOW is the time to vote out barrack hussein obama and place a real Conservative in the White House.  If not I fear a major breakdown of America as we know it and have known it.

Wisdom From Past Leaders

During the past couple of months I have been reading a book.  Crusade in Europe is written by former Supreme Allied Commander,  and President of the United States, General Dwight D. Eisenhower. As the book's title would imply it is about the battle for Europe.  The book is actually much more than that however.  It begins with the poor and shortsightedness of our government immediately after World War I and leading up to World War II.

Those in power refused to acknowledge the fact that Germany, Italy and Japan were building an industrial complex for world domination.  General Eisenhower, as I will  address him in this post, was one of the very few that was able to see and predict this shortcoming.  Were it not for him and a very few other staunch true Americans this might be a completely different world we live in today.

I marvel at how the saying "if we do not learn from our past we are doomed to make the mistakes in the future" is so apropos. After reading nearly 500 pages of about type 10 type and finishing the book this morning so many of the Generals words and statements come to mind.  Obvously it would be too burdensome to list the many, many sentences  worthy of this small and humble blogger.  In closing the General made this statement and it has never been so appropriate as now as our great country is under siege by the far left, Progressives.  General Eisenhower said and I quote:

"The areas in which freedom flourishes will continue to shrink unless the supporters of democracy match Communist fanaticism with clear and common understanding that the freedom of men is at stake..."

I truly believe the words Communist fanaticism is completely and totally interchangeable with today's far left Progressives.

If you should ever get the chance to read this book I would strongly suggest it.

I Had a Thought

I had a thought (yes, I know that's had to believe) today.  Actually I had several. However, one kept coming back to me throughout the course of the day. With all the talk of the Tea Party and the Evangelical Christians swinging the vote to Newt in South Carolina and swinging the vote to Santorum in Iowa.  Just what is a Christian?  What do they believe in that other non-evangelical Americans do not.  I was watching one of the talk shows the other day and the "talking head" said the Tea Party and the Evangelical Christians were willing to "roll the dice" on Newt and lose the 2012 elections to BHO. One thing for sure, I don't think Christians gamble so therefore the "talking head" doesn't understand Christians or he's talking out his.........

But really, who are the Tea Party and Evangelical Christians that are voting for Newt and also casting votes for Santorum?  What makes them different and why?  Finally, just what do they stand for?

I don't know if I would qualify as a formal Tea Partyer (is that a word?) or as an Evangelical Christian.  I do know I was raised in a Christian (Lutheran) church.  We left the Lutheran church several years ago when it became too liberal.  I now attend Greencastle Bible Church, clik here for more info and recorded sermons. (Little advertisement for the good Pastor Flesher.) I just know what I believe in.  I sum it up like this.

I believe in God, Guns and Family (pro life).  You can add to that small government and a strong defense. My question to you and your friends is:  If you consider yourself a Tea Partyer, or an Evangelical Christian or just plan Christian just what do you believe in?  I would really like to know. If you  would be so kind I would ask  you to pass this around to your friends and see if they will answer.  If I get enough responses I'll re-post this with everybody's thoughts.
