My Rule for Life

I would rather live my life as if there is a God, and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't, and die to find out there is.

I Wish They had the Internet in Heaven

I wish they had the Internet in Heaven, not so I could talk to God, He’s a little busy to email me. I’m sure He would were it necessary but usually He just responds to my requests. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

I wanted to email my uncle Floyd. Most of you don’t know him but, he was a great guy. He passed away when I was about 9 or 10 at a very impressionable stage of my life. My mom, sister and I actually lived with him and my aunt for a couple of months. My dad was still stationed in Great Britain, he was in the Army, and we weren’t sure where we would be camping out for his next stateside duty so we stayed with Uncle Floyd and my aunt until we found out. Cleveland as a recruiter, UGH. Mom liked it though. My sister and I were hoping for California or Hawaii. Can anyone say BEACH BOYS!!!!

Uncle Floyd was a Merchant Marine during World War II. He told me that meant the Germans U-boats tried to avoid the navel escort and sink the ship he was on. I never really understood what that was but I accepted it as being somewhat like my dad, a soldier.

He was a pretty big guy, ‘specially when you are about 3 foot 5 inches and he is 6 foot 2 inches weighing in at about 205 pounds. Rough and rugged I would say now. He bought me my very first fishing rod and reel and took me to Lake Logan for my first fishing trip. We actually went out in his boat. I had to wear a life jacket, bah! Uncle Floyd didn’t because he was a Merchant Marine and could swim. Wouldn’t the park police have fun with that one nowadays!

He owned his own “tin shop” which sorta kinda made him a “tin smith”. This was back in the days when house spouting was rolled on a press in 10 foot sections. It was cut on big shears then soldered with hot irons heated in a pot. I forgot the name of the heating pot. I once saw him hang spouting on a three story building with his broken leg in a cast. He just stood on the edge of the roof, leaned over the building and drove the nails home. No safety harness, no rope, no nothing. I thought for sure he would fall. He never faltered and told me it was mind over matter or something like that.

Being in business for himself gave him a great deal of latitude in work hours and money. My aunt was very well dressed and always had fresh flowers delivered to the house when company was coming. Uncle Floyd was a sportsman and had hunting dogs, setters I think because he had a boat. He would go “out west” once a year and hunt animals of unknown type and species. He had a couple of mountain goat heads on the wall and one rather large, at least to me, bear skin on the floor in his office. He had a closet that had at least a hundred guns and rifles in it. Without any trigger locks! Quick call Family Services! Well maybe not a hundred but when you’re 10 it looks like a hundred! He promised to take me “out west” when I got a little older. You see, he would tell me “these high powered rifles have a pretty good kick and you need a little more meat on your bones.”

I never got to go “out west” with Uncle Floyd he had a bad ticker and one day he just fell over dead. I remember my mom coming to school and getting me and telling me Uncle Floyd had died of a massive heart attack. Later I found out he had known he had heart problems but he never slacked off. He just kept on working, fishing and hunting and…..telling me we would go “out west when I got a little meat on my bones.”

He WAS a great guy. For some reason I just thought of him and was wondering if he was still going “out west” and….if and when the time came I could go with him. You see, I have a little “meat on my bones” now. I think I can handle the kick of one of his high powered rifles. I just wanted to email him and let him know.

Thanks for listening, er….reading. I just wanted to share a good thought with my followers and let you know a little about one of my relatives.

Hooooaaahh! They Got Some Backbone!!!

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

Every Republican in the House voted "No" on the stimulus bill. This is a great, but small, victory for Conservatives. A small win in the Pork War of the current administration and Democratically controlled Congress. Now as not to get myself into too much hot water I want to go on record as saying I feel for the people who are hurting with job layoffs, loosing houses, and the like. I don't believe the Federal Government is here to "bail you out" I have seen too many stories of people who have been laid off and started their own business, hunkered down and cut household spending, and did what ever it took. As one man said on TV this morning, When God Give you lemons make lemonade! Start squeezing people, you can do it!

Now on to the good news of the stimulus bill. Eleven, that's right eleven rock solid, America First, Democrats voted against the Bill. These "dirty dozen-one" deserve our support. They are going to catch pure Hell from President Obama, his supporters and other Congressional Democrats. I say SUPPORT these America First Democrats.

They are:

F. Allen Boyd of Florida
Bobby Bright of Alabama
Jim Cooper of Tennessee
Brad Elsworth of Indiana
Parker Griffith of Alabama
Paul Kanjorski of Pennsylvania
Frank Kratovil of Maryland
Walt Minnick of Idaho
Collin Peterson of Minnesota
Heath Shuler of North Carolina
Gene Taylor of Mississippi
*

If any of you live in the states these courageous men live in, google their name, call their office, write them a letter and or email them. They need to know Conservatives appreciate their stand against the stimulus bill.

Don't forget to put pressure on your Senator regardless of which party they are affiliated with. With enough support a couple Democrats can help get this bill defeated and more reasonable package up for discussion. Let them know we, Americans, are tired of the Pork!!!

Thank You and God Bless America

Promises made, Promises NOT Kept

I promised myself I would not allow this blog to be a beat up on President Obama blog. After less than a week in office this may be a harder promise to keep than I anticipated. Below are four reasons why. Added postscript, make it 5.

President Obama, begins the support for murdering innocent babies. Read the full story here!

President Obama breaks first promise about Lobbyists, Read the full story here!

President Obama character counts, Secretary of Treasury can't figure out his own taxes!

President Obama, from your own hometown newspaper, Stimulus Package for condoms.
What's this got to do with the bailout? I thought you said "no earmarks (pork)!
Read the complete story here!

President Obama, I was raised to protect the innocent, keep my promises, pay what I owed, and lead by example. You should try it sometime, it's really easy, once you do it and it's good for your soul.

No, I didn't miss the closing of Gitmo, read my comments on that at Mark 1:11

As always your comments and dialogue are appreciated.

Post Script #1
While watching Headline News this morning it was reported in the 0700 Hour, (7:00AM for you civilians) broadcast the stimulus package also contained 200 Million TAXPAYER DOLLARS for renovating the National Mall. This includes new grass! Oh PLEASE Mr. President, is this really going to help get AMERICA GOING! Does anybody but me smell PORK?

Post Script #2
I have added this link to make it easy to contact your National and/or Local Representatives should you wish to do so. It was about the easiest I found and also has the voting records and bill look up option which I find very helpful. Clik here for e-z access

Where do I start!

Ask not what your country can do for you!
President John F. Kennedy

Change
, We need change, we're gonna get
change, we deserve change, you deserve change. Is that not what America was promised? Is that not what the monarch soon to be crowned said we were going to have? It's like Clara Peller,of the Wendy's commercial used to say. Where's the Beef! Where's the change.

President Elect Barrack Hussein Obama has nominated Leon Panetta for Head of the CIA. For goodness sakes what does he know about running a spy agency. I like Mr. Panetta. I have always felt he was as straight shooter as he could be within the confines of his job as mouthpiece for the Clintons. None the less, a decent guy. Make him a White House Counsel but not the head of the CIA!

How many ex-Clinton associates (?) make up President Elect Obama's hierarchy.

Let's see,

1. Leon Panetta
2. Hillary Clinton
3.
Bill Richardson*
4. Dr. Sanjay Gupta (
also of CNN for crying out loud!)
5. Rahm Emanuel
6. David Axelrod
7. Nancy Killifer
8. Eric Holder*

9. Carol Browner

10.Transition Team, too many Clinton associates (?) to name

Hilda Solis, nominee for the Labor Dept. as I said previously sounded like a third grader at Parents Night reciting a poem. There were more ands, ahs, and ums in her answers than I could count. Finally she finally just copped out and stated she was not prepared to answer that question at this time. She did say she would answer it behind closed doors. At least she was somewhat honest, she said she was not prepared. You would think at that level you would be prepared for questioning by the US Senate. Behind closed doors! So much for transparency! Thanks to James Oliphant of Hispanic Business.com for his article of January 12, 2009.

At the end of a relatively brief confirmation hearing on Friday in which Solis repeatedly refused to voice her opinions on hotly contested issues such as organizing rights. Read the complete article here

*Let's not forget Mr Bill.....Richardson, currently governor of New Mexico and also currently being investigated by the FBI for improprieties in office. Mr. Bill was going to be Commerce Secretary. Not now. Maybe a commissary worker in a penal institution, if the FBI finds out something. Here again you would think someone would say, psst, hey Barrack, you DO know Richardson is being investigated by the FBI! That's the Federal Bureau of INVESTIGATION!!!! This may not be a good thing, ya know.

Thanks to Fox News Transition Tracker for this little gem.

President-elect Barack Obama's nominee for Treasury Secretary, Timothy Geithner, failed to pay Social Security and Medicare taxes for himself for four years and employed a housekeeper whose immigration documentation lapsed while in his employ. Let's see, I didn't pay my taxes but that's OK. I can handle the countries money. Refer back to Bill Richardson. Psst. hey Barrack. Read the complete article
here.

*Eric Holder, for the position of Attorney General. Now there's a sure winner. Mr. Holder's claim to fame with the Clinton Administration seems to be getting pardons for terrorists and for millionaires who donate to the Clinton Library and Massage Parlor. A direct quote from the LA Times article states:

Holder had no comment for this article, but a spokesman for President-elect Barack Obama's transition team said Holder's actions were appropriate.* Oh please, this is the same old politics we had with the Clinton administration. It starts with "C" but is spelled Cover-up, NOT change! The complete LA Times article can be read here. (* My red)

If that weren't enough Mr. Holder's role in the Marc Rich fiasco should more than disqualify him from holding any office. Although with his experience at pardon for terrorists might land him a good job with the ACLU. (oh boy, here comes the law suit).

While most of the attention at the time was focused on the Rich pardon, and the contributions Rich's ex-wife Denise made to the Clinton library and campaigns, there was also extensive criticism of the commuted sentences of two convicted members of the domestic terror group, the Weather Underground, Susan Rosenberg and Linda Sue Evans. (my red)
This little gem was courtesy of ABC News and you guessed it you can read the complete article here.

Carol Browner. Now what can we say about a women who again served under President Clinton, (oh the urge for a pun). It is now being reported that she was a member of the socialist world organization called Socialist International. Psst. Barack, Socialist, America, Democracy. What's wrong with this picture?

Carol Browner, President-elect Barack Obama's choice to be his climate czarina*, served until last summer as a member of a socialist organization. The mission is to enact progressive government policies. This would include environmental concerns like climate change. Can anyone say Al Gore? *Is there such a word as czarina?

Browner's name and biography have been scrubbed from the Web site of Socialist International, the umbrella group for 170 "social democratic, socialist and labor parties" in 55 countries. But a photo of Browner speaking in Greece to the group's Congress on June 30 remained in the site's archives. Now why would they do that? Perhaps President Elect Obama doesn't want the American public to know he is appointing socialist to top spots in his administration. Read the complete story here.

This list could go on and on and most likely will as President Elect Obama becomes President Obama. As we Americans watch the price of gas go up, the sale of our retail stores go down, literally BILLIONS of our tax dollars used to bail out poorly managed banks, brokerage houses, auto manufactures and now some 40+ states are standing around with their hands out because the politicians running those state can't manage money President Elect Obama pulls the old magicians trick of slight of hand. Elect me and I will CHANGE everything to good. He lets you see one thing and then changes it to something else.

I fear, and I really do me fear, the next four years. Although I never lived through the Depression my father did. He told me stories of picking up coal from along the railroad tracks to take home and burn to heat the house. He told me of working for the 3C planting trees for $40 a month and sending it home to help his parents pay the rent and buy groceries. I hope this is not what is in store for America in the future. My children and grandchildren deserve more, much, much more!

I leave you with my final thought. Tomorrow is the coronation of President Barrack Obama. When many Americans, 7%, are currently out of work, thousands are in jeopardy of losing their homes, our senior citizens must decide between eating and ordering their prescription drugs, this man is spending more on his installment as President of the United States than any other President in the history of America. It is reported he is spending $170 million for his coronation. This is nearly 4 times more than President George W. Bush spent in 2004. He should set the example by being a little humble and spending less. In my humble opinion he doesn't have a clue of what the average American is dealing with.

Finally from the Home Page of one of my favorite Professors Walter Williams of George Mason University, he leaves us with the quote by Samuel Adams. For Dr. Williams' Home Page clik here.

Wisdom of the Month

"No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffusd and virtue is preservd. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauchd in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders."
--Samuel Adams Misspelled words are old English I believe, not typos.

Pray for our troops and America, Bless God

Another Guest Post

Change of Power?

The reign of GW Bush is coming to an end. I say reign because he behaved like a monarch, not like the President of a democratic country.

Was he all bad? No one is all bad. He put some money toward the fight against AIDS in Africa, against child pornography, and for community health clinics. What some people see as Bush's biggest error (or crime) was the war in Iraq. However, I see the Iraq war as something that, regardless of its technical illegality, was something that might have turned out a lot better than it did if only it had been run by competent people. The biggest faults of the Bush administration, I believe, will be remembered by history as incompetence, cronyism, corruption, and the attempt to consolidate power in the Executive Branch. More than anything, Bush tried to turn the Presidency into a Third-World style despotism. The most frightening aspect of the past 8 years, however, is the way Congress just went along with what most of Bush wanted.

Our system is based on "checks and balances," the tension between the three branches of governments--Executive, Legislative, and Judicial--that limit the power of each one. The founders of our government knew that many politicians were just like GW Bush. They thought they had created a system that would check the power of such would-be despots. The Legislative Branch has failed in that duty and the Judicial Branch has come close to failing. Thus our country now teeters on the edge of dictatorship. The people (mostly) have put their faith in a man, Barack Obama. But the problem at this point is the system. Our system isn't supposed to be run by one man. That isn't democracy; it is dictatorship. How did this happen?

Many people blame special interest money and see Congress as corrupt. That is part of it. But politicians still need votes, not just money, to get elected. Many politicians have been defeated in past years despite being outspent. I believe the problem is a national attitude that is quite similar to the one that existed in Tsarist Russia: The "leader" is seen as a far-off, almost mythical icon who runs the country, and the people see themselves as cut off from power and dependent on the beneficence of the Leader whom they idealize. This is an infantile mindset that has no place in democracy. But it seems to be the current majority American mindset.

Yesterday I went to a Libertarian convention. (I have serious issues with the Libertarian Party that I'll get into in another post). One of the speakers was a free-market economist from St. John's University. I decided to throw out what I've believed is one of my more controversial ideas: That the US is too large and should be split up into three to five separate countries. To my surprise, the economist agreed with me. In fact he said California was too large and should be two separate countries. He went on to say how Scotland should leave the UK (apparently he's of Scottish origin). When human groups are too large, people cannot work in concert with each other without damaging individual freedom, he said.

The economist might have been a bit extreme. But empire and democracy don't go together. Idealization of far-off, mythical leaders doesn't go with democracy. Nor does a useless legislature that rubber stamps the President's actions. We might not need to break up the US just yet, but surely the people of the US need to exert more pressure on the Legislature to represent their interests. State and local governments also wield significant power and they often also operate without checks from the people. The mythologizing of the Presidency must stop. Barack Obama is a young man who has a lot to learn and already has shown some insecurities and weaknesses of character. We are about to witness what I am afraid will be a coronation rather than an inauguration next week. Wake Up, America. Democracy is rule by the People.

My comments come first. Except for a little President Bush bashing and she gave him some credit for some of what he has done in the last 8 years I, in general, agree with what Elizabeth has said.

As always your comments are appreciated and feel free to email the post to your friends.

A Different Point of View

A little intro if you please maestro!

I would like to introduce you to a new acquaintance, via the blog-o-sphere, her name is Lilia from Algeria. She is a very strong practicing Muslim. We met via a comment I posted on another blog. Lilia sent me this email as a reply to my post comments. Of course I put forth a pro Israel view and Lilia responded .

This is unedited and I have received her permission to post it. Remember the ground rules of this blog, BE NICE, no cussin', gougin' spitin, or hitin where ain't proper. This blog is for everyone who is civil and for discussion purposes, not arguments. I have forewarned Lilia some comments may be hard but she is a tough girl and I feel she can take the heat.

Here is her email.

Salam (peace) everybody,

ABNPOPPA,

What "bomb makers and homicide bombers" are you talking about? Those who have killed a thousand (1000) innocent people in less than 2 weeks with their Weapons of Mass Destruction? Or those patriots who retaliated with their meagre "weapons" and killed 12 soldiers in the said 15 days?!

Failing to notice the FACT that Israel (a military superpower) bombarding cowardly a part of a country it colonised and killing & wounding for life shamelessly thousands of innocent people because a minuscule group armed with firecrackers dare to throw now and then some of their toys in an attempt to frighten them out of their (the tiny group's) country…I'm sorry, that's incredible, unreal, insane, etc., and I'm sure that everybody deep inside know that it's absurd even though they say otherwise for reasons best known to themselves… This is a REAL GENOCIDE, A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY. Period.

"I don't quite understand why it appears women appear to be second rate citizens with not being allowed out of the home without a male companion and other demeaning practices such as that" = Haha, this is really funny and it makes me laugh! This is the kind of the many stereotypes you (Westerners) have about us! Why is it we know a lot about YOU and you don't know anything about US, the REAL Muslims? You tend to see only the prejudiced, bigoted media that show only what they want to show you! Thank God we're not as blinded as you are!

For the record, I'm a Female Muslim, living and Working in Algeria. I have my own car and travel and go out of the house wherever I want and I'm at least as free as any American woman can be, so don't try to speak about something you know nothing about. If you're talking about Saudi women, the only Muslim women in the world who don't have the right to drive, let me tell you that they are happy and don't want ANYbody to "FREE" them because they are satisfied with their lot and are among the best protected and respected women in the world and that despite all what you say.

http://www.muslimbridges.org/content/view/378/

Please read a little bit about Islam and Muslims not from Racist, Anti-Islam, bigoted websites and books, etc., but from some objective sources that try to explain and not to misconstrue the real meaning of my GREAT religion Islam.

http://www.muslimbridges.org/content/view/41/

That said, let me tell you that while I'm a deeply religious, practising Muslim, I have read the Bible and enjoy reading about and trying to understand other religions far from any prejudice or misconception about them because this is what Allah urges us to do. And all that helped me in checking and knowing better the real value of ISLAM and the luck I am in to be Muslim.

May God open your eyes to the truth and show you the right path Incha'Allah.

Salam

Coping Out,Well Not Really

Let me explain. I have been working on two posts for about the past two weeks. Both of them very complex for my pea sized brain. Every time I think I am ready to post one of the two somebody changes their, not my program (not computer) but mindset. This confuses the issue/issues. Because of this, I am, in a way"coping out" but, not really. My fellow blogger Subvet has two very good Conservative Posts over at this site and I am suggesting you go there. They are the posts of January 12th, 2009 and January 8th, 2009.

I will however, make two comments on the current Senate Confirmation Hearings being held this week.

1. Yesterday's Labor Appointee wouldn't even answer questions. She stumbled around like a 3rd grader reciting a poem on parents day! Duh

2. Mrs Clinton, this morning, made the sick comment she intends to show America is back. Well I got news for her, AMERICA WAS NEVER GONE! Only to you left wing liberal morons! (I like that word) You haven't been bombed since 9/11 have you. What do you think that is all about? Singing protest songs around the campfire with Jane Fonda and John Kerry!

Peace thru superior weaponry!!!

I'm all thru now. Damn I feel better! Sorry Chaplins and ladies. Liz, analyze this post.

Lutheran Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Destruction of the embryo in the mother's womb is a violation of the right to live which God has bestowed upon this nascent life. To raise the question whether we are here concerned already with a human being or not is merely to confuse the issue. The simple fact is that God certainly intended to create a human being and that this nascent human being has been deliberately deprived of his life. And that is nothing but murder.
